Examination & Promotion

There will be two summative examinations during the academic year and as many formative examinations as deemed necessary.

Regular class tests are a feature and the performance of the students in these willbe considered for promotion.

Parents should ensure that their wards are regular for all the examinations.

Answer sheets of periodic examinations are shown to the parents for the improvement of their wards. Parents are expected to contact the class teachers within the scheduled time period for the same. Answer scripts of finalexaminations are notshown.

To avoid unhealthy competition among the students to secure a particular rank that becomes a prestige issue for parents and to broaden their outlook about the evaluation process, as well as to avoid stress on them, students willbe awarded ‘Grades’instead of marks in allmain evaluations.

A student who uses unfair means during examinations will be given zero in that subject and will be issued T.C. on repetition.

A pupil who fails twice in the same class shall not be allowed to continue in the school under any circumstances.

If a student does not appear at the main examinations he / she will be considered to have failed except on account of sickness, subject to the discretion of the Principal.

A pupil may not be allowed to sit in the summatine examinations, if he /she has not put in a minimum of 75% of the attendance of the academic term concluding.

Progress Reportare issued after every examination. Parents are requested to take note of the remarks, sign and return the report, the same day.

Promotion is granted on the basis of the whole year’s performance.

The general criteria for promotion is that the student has grasped the subject matter of his/her present class sufficiently well, to follow the subjects in the higher class easily.

A child in the K.G. Section is detained, only if it is felt that he / she will definitely benefitby repeating the class.

The promotion policy for all classes is based on the following nine points grading system in all academic subjects.

A1 - 91 to 100
A2 - 81 to 90
B1 - 71 to 80
B2 - 61 to 70
C1 - 51 to 60
C2 - 41 to 50
D - 33 to 40
E1 - 21 to 32
E2 - 00 to 20

If a child gets ‘D’grade in 3 or more subjects in class I onwards, he/she can be detained in the same class with the consent of the parent.

Each student would need to pass the continuous and comprehensive evaluation as well as the summative examination separately with ‘D’ grade and above.

Students getting ‘E1’ in one subject in the overall grade shall be considered for ‘passed by grace’.

‘E’ grade in more than one subject would make the child take exams repeatedly or repeatthe class at the discretion of the Principal.
