Discipline and Conduct
All St. Anselmites are expected to behave well at all times and in all places. They should always remember that the school is judged by their conduct. The whole hearted co-operation of the parents is expected at all the times in the formation of the character of their children. As the child progresses from the lower to the upper classes he / she will be given increasing opportunities to shift from conforming to externally imposed order to self-imposed discipline.
The school will insist on strict punctuality, greater school attendance, cleanliness in dress, general grooming and fidelity to study and work assignment. The following rules are to be strictly adhered to :-
Rules
1. The students must be in the school premises at least 5 minutes before the first bell. The school gates will close at the first bell and remain closed throughout the assembly-time during which perfect order and silence is to be maintained.
2. After the assembly all should go in silence to their respective classes. Moving along the corridors in groups, while classes are in progress also should be done in silence.
3. Regular late comers will be punished. The late comers and those who have been absent the previous day must bring an application from their parents/guardians, which they have to getsigned by the Principal.
4. A student whose dress or appearance is untidy may be refused admission to the class and is liable to be sent home in which case the school disclaims all responsibility. Students without school diary are liable to the same penalty.
5. The bell is a signal for all and should be observed in silence, getting the materials ready for the teaching period. Once in the class every student is expected to speak in a subdued voice or keep silence.
6. Making unnecessary noise, running around and playing, shouting, yelling, howling, whistling etc., anywhere in the school building is not permitted.
7. All home work should be done neatly, regularly and correctly dated. The text books, note books and other necessary articles for days work should be brought every day.
8. Books, bags, Tiffin boxes, water bottles, sweaters, coats; every article of a students’ regular use should bear the name of the owner. The school is not responsible for the articles that are lost. The students should look-after their own things and are advised not to bring any valuables to the school.
9. Speaking English is a must within the school premises. The class monitor assumes responsibility for this as well as order and discipline of the class in the absence of the teacher.
10. Students are forbidden to leave the school premises during school hours without the written permission of the Principal. Any breach of this rule is punishable by dismissal. Staying away from class too will be seriously dealt with.
11. Students are not allowed to receive visitors in the school. Only under urgent circumstances will the pupil be allowed to make a phone call, which will be charged.
12. Cell phone and cameras or any such gadgets are strictly forbidden in the school premises. If any student brings it , it will be confiscated. No objectionable literature, printed or electronic, in any form or media, should be brought to school or exchanged. Same is the case with video games, other media players and the like.
13. Money should not be lent or borrowed, neither articles exchanged. No money collection of any sort for any reason will be made without prior permission from the Principal and Manager.
14. Detrimental practices such as use of tobacco, drugs or intoxicants, rowdyism, rude behaviour, casteism and communalism are strictly forbidden. The Principal has the right to refuse continuation of the studies to a student whose conduct or influence is unsatisfactory or harmful to other students.
15. Politeness and courtesy of speech are much emphasized. Rude and argumentative behavior, using foul language or dirty signs to the teachers and other members of the staff will be strictly dealt with.
16. Care must be taken of all school property. Those who disfigure the furniture or damage any school property will be taken to task. Any damage done will have to be made good by the one who does it or the class responsible for it. Students spilling ink, littering papers, scribbling on school desks or walls, stealing or damaging other students’belongings or school property will be liable to punishment to the extent of a heavy fine to cover the damage, a suspension or even dismissal.
17. Attendance on every school function is necessary, especially the three national festivals.
18. In case of insubordination to school authorities or gross misconduct or use of violence in any form, especially to those smaller in age/size, the school has the right to take disciplinary action against the student concerned.
19. No pupil is exempted from curricular and co-curricular activities without a medicalcertificate.
20. Only such pupils that pass in all subjects have a right to be promoted to a higher standard. Consistent neglect of any subjectwill not be condoned.
21. All applications for any certificate must be made in writing. These will only be issued within 2 working days after the receipt of the application.
22. NO SCHOOL BUSINESS WILL BE TRANSACTED AFTER SCHOOL HOURSAND ON HOLIDAYS.
